It's no surprise that thousands of Virginians love nothing more than casting a line and reeling in a fish. If you're one of them, you know you don't have to go far for a great experience.
Hundreds of folks in the area head to the lake at Clearbrook Park in Frederick County and it's getting attention from the Commonwealth.
Clearbrook Park was named the 'Best Place to Fish' by the readers of Virginia Living Magazine.
Fishers at the park say they start fishing around 7:00 a.m. and come here pretty often.
The lake is stocked with fish regularly and many families come here to teach their kids how to fish while spending the day at the park.
"Anytime you're ranked number one, you know, we're going to hang our hat on that. So we already have a lot of people but I'm hoping that will drive even more people out to take a look at what's going on out here," said Frederick County Superintendent of Recreation, Chris Konyar. "It's a great place to have a picnic, bring your family, walk the walking path and obviously, you can bring your fishing pole."
Konyar says on a beautiful weekend, the lake is packed. Yet, many people who aren't familiar with northern Frederick County rarely spend time at Clearbrook. Parks and Rec is hoping this Virginia Living award will change that.
