In just a few days, Camp Rock Enon's camp site in Gore will have a new look.
And that's all thanks to a girl scout with a love for the outdoors and helping others.
Shyane Cook has been hard at work replacing benches.
"I wanted this to be my project because I like being outside and I like doing stuff like this," said girl scout, Shyane Cook.
The project she's talking about is her Girl Scout Gold project. It's equivalent to a Boy Scout Eagle project.
"I'd rather be building something," said Cook.
What she's building will help everyone who comes to Camp Rock Enon. She's tearing down these old benches and replacing them with new ones.
"She decided she needed to do this because even if she doesn't keep coming, other people are coming," said Girl Scout Leader of Troop 4031, Patricia LoPreto.
LoPreto says this project is all about safety for those who use this space.
"The bank is just worn away. The wood was really rotten, we came back one week and they had yellow tape on the row because the row was gone," said LoPreto.
"The benches were not safe at all. You could bounce on them and jump on them like a trampoline. There were nails sticking out, you could hurt yourself. It's a cliff over here... you could fall down," said Cook.
But, in a few days, that won't be a problem. With donations from home improvement stores and community members, Shyane and other girl and boy scouts will have this project finished.
"I hope people can actually enjoy sitting on these benches now and enjoy what they're doing," said Cook.
Those benches were more than 50 years old.
Shyane says the she'll be done with the whole project on Monday.
LoPreto also mentioned that a lot of people don't even know about Girl Scout Gold projects.
She and Shyane are both hoping that replacing these benches will raise awareness about girl scout programs.
