Lord Fairfax Community College is looking to expand on its current property and property owned by the school's foundation.
Leaders want to build a 32,000 square-foot student center to make more room for the growing number of students at the college. Right now, they're working with Frederick County to make sure water and sewer lines can support that kind of growth.
The school has more than 7,000 students.
Current student, Brandon Jeffrie, shared, "I'd say it's an okay idea. It's news to me, but it sounds pretty cool."
Nolan Franz, another student, added, "I wouldn't mind having a gym and more places to hang with people. It's perfectly fine with me."
The college says the process is going smoothly and leaders hope to break ground in a few months from now. They expect the building, which would have a fitness center, book store, and classrooms, to be finished by December of next year.
