Front Royal is gearing up for its annual Citizen's Police Academy course and leaders hope you'll join them.
For 13 weeks, there will be a class once a week that will teach people about what goes on inside of a police department.
It doesn't cost a thing, you just have to fill out an application and pass a background check.
Folks at the Front Royal Police Department say it's important for people to be proactive about their safety.
"It helps them to know a lot of their rights and what police departments can and cannot do. A lot of people are under the impression that well, they're the police they can do anything. Not so," said National Crime Prevention Specialist Janice Hart.
The Citizen's Police Academy starts on February 19th, 2013 at Skyline High School. You have to live or work in Front Royal or Warren County to be accepted.
