Fire and Rescue Chaplains Honored

Updated: Wed 9:49 AM, Jul 25, 2012

During a tragic time they're there to comfort you and your family.

And on Tuesday, they were honored.

The Frederick County Fire and Rescue Chaplains were awarded the Community Recognition Award from Crown Trophy.

These four chaplains talk with families about the loss of a loved one, a home disaster or just to be there during a time of need.

Chaplain Darrel Taylor says their job isn't easy, but it's rewarding.

"It's encouraging to see someone take a deep sigh of releif and rest. Just be at peace in a very stressful situation," said Taylor.

The Whitacre family was also there to support Chaplain Kent Woodward as he received his award.

Woodward was the chaplain who supported and comforted the family during the loss of their son, Zach, who was a firefighter.

Zach died in the line of duty last February.
