Feed The Children teamed with members of STAR Touring & Riding Association to provide food and essentials for 400 Winchester area families.
The food was distributed from the Salvation Army in Winchester.
There was 25 pounds of non-perishable food items in a box, and famillies also received a box of personal items.
According to the secretary of the local STAR chapter, more than one in four children living in Winchester is considered impoverished. In fact, the number of children living in poverty in Virginia (264,601) could fill Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. more than six times.
