Emergency Responder Lost in Accident
Frederick County dispatchers say one of their fire trucks was involved in an accident after assisting on a emergency call in Hampshire County, WV and an emergency responder has been killed.

UPDATE: The Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department is holding a press conference at 1 p.m. Monday in reference to the fire apparatus crash and line-of-duty death.

TV3 Winchester will have a reporter there, and will bring you the latest information.

Frederick County dispatchers say one of their fire trucks is involved in an accident after assisting on a emergency call in Hampshire County, WV.

The call came in around 4 AM Monday morning for a company out of Gore to assist in Hampshire County.

Dispatchers confirmed that the accident did involve a crew fatality.

Frederick County is in the process of preparing a statement.

We will pass along more information as it becomes available.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of firefighter Whitacre. Even in the aftermath of this tragedy, someone, most likely another responder, thought to put a flare warning of the ice around the curve in the road. Because of that I slowed down and was saved from hitting that ice. God be with the family and friends of this young man.

God Bless our Fire and Rescue people. They take on a very dangerous job. May his/her family find comfort in knowing they where doing a life's calling.They will be deeply missed by everyone. We have lost a brave soul.Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they have to go thru this..
