"Whatever they're replacing, the water pipes and stuff are ancient and it needs to be done," says Riccardo Stocco.
Stocco is the chef and owner at Violina Restaurant on the Old Town Walking Mall in Winchester.
"It's going to be a big change, and I'm sure people are going to be scared to come downtown because of the construction, but don't let it scare you," he says.
Rick Childs owns Snow White Grill. He says they'll try delivery during construction in hopes of keeping business up.
"Can they finish in the time frame they're talking about? Apple Blossom weekend is our largest money maker and I'm hoping everything is done and ready to roll by then," says Childs.
He says it's tough enough for Snow White Grill during the winter anyways, but when the construction is done, all businesses on the mall will be better off.
"It's gonna be great when it's done. Let's put it that way. But we have to survive to get there."
