Book Blast

Updated: Thu 4:35 AM, Feb 21, 2013

Hundreds of kids are enjoying new books they have received at Book Blast at Apple Blossom Mall.

The Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, and other Dr. Seuss characters were at Book Blast reading books to children.

In addition to book reading, children were playing fun activities with flash cards and puzzles.

More than 1,000 books were given away at the event.

Those that were left over will be donated to the library.

Melinda Russell who helped coordinate this event says it really does make a difference.

"It excites me," she said. "I'm just excited when they come and get books because I know that they are going to go home, snuggle up with their mom or dad or grandma and read a book."

There was no limit to the amount of books children were allowed to take.

This event happens once a year in honor of Dr. Seuss.
