If you've been to Apple Blossom Mall in the last few weeks - you've probably noticed the start of a construction project that's giving the mall a bit of a face-lift.
"It's not the best timing on their part... I know they want to be ready for the holiday season... but as far as mom and dads go... kids grow so quickly they need new clothes often," said mall shopper, Brooke Marker.
Marker is the mother of three young boys. She and her husband are both teachers and they use their summers to spend time as a family.
And that includes shopping.
"We have noticed that the movie theater and the arcade was closed... which was a big bummer for my kiddos," said Marker.
Marketing manager Larry Nelson says the new play area for kids will be a benefit to families like the Markers.
"A perfect amenity for toddlers, and young kids in strollers. And moms to stop to rest, relax and unwind... and let the kids play," said Nelson.
While many parking lots are torn up for the new theater, there aren't too many changes inside the mall yet.
"They coincide really well together. And we feel that we'd rather be ripped up all at once and get it all completed at one time. And I think it'll be nicer for our shoppers too," said Nelson.
"A lot of people didn't know it was going on. They walk in and see construction. So it's a little confusing at first but there are signs that say the stores are still open. Just as many people have been shopping in our store," said Hollister Co. employee Heather Franz.
When it comes time for back to school shopping, shopper should expect crowds and construction.
"We're kind of at a disadvantage," said Marker.
"I think it will bring more people in because they're just as excited about the new stores coming anyway, so I hope to see more people," said Franz.
