Winchester police say 24-year-old David Ollinger is being charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

Ollinger told police his foot got lodged in between the gas and the brake pedals.

The Winchester Fire Department says a car traveling eastbound struck another car heading in the same direction.

That sent the other vehicle head first into on-coming traffic.

A woman was trapped in the gold vehicle for about 12 minutes while rescue crews worked to free her.

Lieutenant Kevin Yost with Winchester Fire & Rescue says:

"As far as for fire and rescue, yes sir we've spoken with all of the patients, the people that were either passengers in the vehicle, and three of them did require medical treatment or transport and we took them to the hospital, one patient did refuse treatment on the scene."

Units from five fire and rescue departments responded. Winchester police say all of the passengers were wearing their seat belts.
