Wednesday night, a Lynchburg fire claimed a man's life and now fire officials say, they didn't have enough resources or staff.
Officials say it took crews six minutes to respond, which is within guidelines.
However, one fire station a mile and a half away was out of service due to staffing issues. So, the downtown unit had to respond instead.
A fire chief says having the proper staff would've saved about two minutes but he says he doesn't know if it would have saved the man's life.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
