A Winchester resident returns home after spending 12 days in Haiti.
Donald Stevens, founder of the non profit organization "REACH" or Reconstruction Efforts Aiding Children Without Homes went to Haiti to lay the groundwork for a project that will build homes for orphans.
Stevens says what he found interesting was the look on the faces of the Haitian people that they are dealing with hardships, poverty, and starvation like it is just another day in Haiti. "It was very emotional. I almost broke down a couple of times. It's hard to see so many people suffering. So many people come up and ask for help and you have to protect yourself and you kind of become resilient to it and you feel so bad for becoming this way, but you can't help everybody," says Stevens.
Stevens says the Haitian people sleep on the streets because they fear another earthquake could again send buildings crashing down.
