Tomorrow the full Virginia state senate will vote on legislation that is commonly known as the health care freedom bill.

The bill would prohibit the state or federal government from mandating that anyone enter into a contract for private services. That would make it illegal to force anyone to buy health insurance.

Many legislators were surprised when the bill moved forward in a Democratically controlled committee last week.

Two Democrats on that committee voted for the bill and those two votes could split the state senate down the middle.

Supporters of the bill say they are optimistic.

Sen. Jill Vogel, (R) 27th District VA says:
"I guess I'm grateful for the support. I think its an awesome opportunity and a great day for Virginians if we pass this legislation, because in my view there's no question that it will come out of the House. Its just a question of will it pass a Democrat majority Senate in Virginia, and I would not have expected it frankly given how partisan some of the discussions have been, but again it just reinforces the fact that this is very much a bipartisan sentiment."

The Lt. Governor will break the tie if there is a split vote.

Republicans say it will pass the House of Delegates and they are confident that Governor McDonnell will sign it it reaches his desk.
