The ideas and beliefs laid out by our founding fathers in the United States Constitution were reignited at a Strasburg TEA party.
Instead of grilling hotdogs and hamburgers to kickoff the Labor Day weekend, residents rallied for limited government and control over how and where their tax dollars are spent.
Residents who attended the tea party are calling on congress to put partisan politics aside and protect taxpayer interests. They want bailouts of banks and big businesses to stop, and a better option for healthcare reform. "What happened to transparency? When our President says we need to have a civilian military that is stronger than our regular military, I ask him, for what purpose, sir?" says Ken Cruise.
Cruise wants the government to be accountable for its actions and stop pointing fingers at democrats or republicans when legislation stalls. "I am the mob czar. I am not afraid of our government and neither are the people here".
Rosemary Antunes has been a registered nurse for almost three decades. As an R-N she takes doctor's orders. she fears health care professionals will be mandated to perform procedures without any input. "If the health care benefits commission, which is included in H.R. 3200 gets to dictate what is basic healthcare, I will be remiss if I don't take the doctors orders to 'start the prostegladins', which is an abortion. Now I'm guilty of patient abandonment," she says.
Small voices gathered to make a loud cry for change.
Front Royal will host a TEA party on October 31st.
