During tough economic times, some need a little extra support. One local mental health agency is raising awareness about resource available to residents.
National Counseling Group held an open house Friday to educate families and the community about mental health and substance abuse help provided for people in need.
Private and public partnerships, along with referrals help the counseling group reach out to youth and adults. "More than any other time now, with the recession being the worst since probably the recession, those in most need can find help with us," says Thomas Minnick, President and CEO of National Counseling Group.
A majority of the clients served are funded by Medicaid. The organization has 20 offices throughout the Commonwealth.
The Winchester office opened a year ago.
