C-CAP Opens New Doors
The Congregational Community Action Project,or C-CAP, has been closed for almost two weeks. There was a good reason for the closing. Now the non-profit organization is in a bigger and newly renovated building.

The front door is finally open at the Congregational Community Action Project, known by many clients as C-CAP.

The renovations are complete and the new building is 2,400 square feet larger.

C-CAP President Fran Ricketts is very happy to have more breathing room in the new building.

"And once again we are mortgage-free and utility-free," says Ricketts. "We are utility free thanks to the town clergy, that is picking up the tab for at least a year for utilities. So we can still say we spend 97 cents out of every donated dollar back to the community," adds Ricketts.

The size upgrade is good news for Food Chairman John Nadzan. A bigger food pantry will allow people to shop for themselves and get more products.

"Hopefully the clients can shop, take their time, not rush like they did before, and let them get what they want to get. So it is going to work out nice," explains Nadzan.

C-CAP in Winchester has been helping needy families since 1975 and some people, like James Mudd, have been along for the entire journey.

¶"If it wasn't for C-CAP, there would be some very lost souls around here," says Mudd.

James Mudd came to C-CAP as a child with his parents. Now Mudd is unemployed but he does not forget who helps take care of him.

"I would say to any folk around here, if you need help, come to C-CAP. But if you get blessed in life, don't forget C-CAP," says Mudd.

The new building features more offices for meetings with clients and a back entrance for deliveries.

C-CAP President Fran Ricketts thanks the community for the help the organization has received since it started in 1975.

"They are a wonderful organization and I advise anyone: If you need help, come to see C-CAP. Fran Ricketts and associates will do all they can to help you," says Mudd.

C-CAP will continue to operate under the same hours.
