Board Names New Member
Clarke County Public Schools picks new board member.

The Clarke County School Board named its newest member at a special meeting Monday night.
Members discussed three applicants for the Millwood District vacancy. David Carter, Tony Parrott and Barbara Pickeral Lee ran for the popular position,
Long time educator, Barbara Lee, beat out both candidates to fill the empty seat, she served in the classroom for 41 years. Lee plans to push hard on construction plans for the hotly debated new high school, and improve curricula. "First and foremost in the minds of everyone is getting the new school built," she says.
Lee is the first Millwood District member to serve on the board who lives east of the Shenandoah River. She says she represents people in that community who feel left out of school decisions.
Lee is set to be sworn in by the Clerk of the Circuit Court Tuesday morning. She will only fill the position for four months.
A special election will be held in November.
