There is new information about a possible motive behind a local murder. Court documents show that Justin Slater, the man charged with killing his brother, told his father quote "he knew one person had to die."

That's according to a search warrant for Gregory Scott Slater's Frederick County Home. The documents confirm that Justin Slater told his father that his brother was trying to quote "get together with Kayleigh." He's referring to Kayleigh Plamondon, his ex-girlfriend. The search warrant also states that Justin Slater was suicidal because of a recent breakup with Kayleigh Plamondon.

June 3rd Slater was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation. When he left the hospital, Justin Slater's father says his son told him he was better and that he knew only one person had to die.

There is also a search warrant for Justin Slater's parent's former home on Timberline Drive in Hardy County, West Virginia. It states after Slater was arrested he was asked about Kayleigh Plamondon and said she was at the house on Timberline Drive and was dead. The search warrant states that Slater told Clarke County Sergeant Travis Sumption that he killed Plamondon in Clarke County on June 9th and took her body to the house in Hardy County, West Virginia on the same day. That's two days before the day police say Slater shot and killed his brother.

Police are still waiting on autopsy results on the body found in Hardy County. Currently Slater is charged with first degree murder and other firearms charges in Frederick County. He will appear in court in West Virginia Tuesday morning for an extradition hearing. An autopsy on Gregory Slater confirms he was killed by a shotgun wound to the head.

Very, very close to the Slaters at one point. Knew Justin better than anyone, this was not him that did this. I was devistated to hear about this in so many ways. I don't think this was anyone's fault, I think he needed help and wasn't able to get it in time. Partially I feel at fault because I should have been there. So let's not blame anyone but let the family grieve as long as needed!! Peggy and Greg my deepest thoughts and the most love is with you!

Unfortunatly, this is the way our system works. There are a lot of people out there that need help and our system will do nothing about it until something this bad happens, to place them in prison. If a person is over the age of 14 you can not test them or treat them without their permission, and in their state of mind, they wont commit themselves!! As far as the father goes, even if he went to the police, they will not budge until he commits a crime! Sadly it had to be one like this! Mr Slater, do not blame yourself!!I have a son in prison, not for murder, but I begged for help for him and they refused, even though my son stayed on drugs and they new it! The drug charges werent enough to arrest him, they wanted something bigger! This is sadly, what happened in your sons case!

Erica and (Blank) make a good point. But I do agree on the point that all of this could have been avoided if Winchester medical would have been on top of things. Althought this cant be blamed on the Father. I've know the Slater's for the past ten years. Its not Gregs Fault, no one in a 1,000,000 years would think that their son could do this. How could he not think that Justin was just blowing off steam. Justin was at one point a very close friend, and I would never would have thought that he could do something like this. I was in A hunting club with Justin and he never as much pointed a gun at anyone even by mistake. Im sorry about your sons Peggy&Greg we love you.
