A group of high school students from your community will be going to China this summer.

This weekend, they're learning what to expect.

Students from many high schools throughout the Shenandoah Valley came together as student ambassadors with the national group called People to People.

Senator Jill Vogel spoke to the group of students, Sunda, saying this will be a trip of a lifetime

"I have been to Japan and Taiwan, but never to China," Senator Vogel said. "It is one of those experiences that is enormous, I mean, it's very powerful. When you go with people-to-people, it's very different than going on a vacation with your family. It's a learning experience."

Vogel participated in the 1986 people to people trip to the former Soviet Union.

She says it was on that trip that she began to take interest in being a public servant.
