At the Cress Creek Golf and Country Club, CHEERS School Family was the motivation behind the swings.

Beth Speidel is the Executive Director of Cheers and explains the non-profit as an organization dedicated to kids learning, growing, and developing the skills they need to be successful people.

All of the raised money from the tournament goes to a scholarship fund.

"We firmly believe in giving back to the community," explains Speidel. "We do these fundraisers so that we can have scholarship funds for lower-income kids who would normally not be able to participate in our program to be able to come, participate, and have a great, solid beginning of their academic life," adds Speidel.

Rich Pell was playing in the tournament but his son and daughter both go to the CHEERS school.

"The thing that I love about CHEERS is that there are different centers," says Pell. "There is a play time, there is an educational time, there is a free play time. There are different things at different times just like in regular school like a recess. They have that kind of acclamation and they are ready for when they go to school because they have already had that kind of structure and schedule for two or three years ahead of time," adds Pell.

CHEERS introduces the kids into different perspectives within the community and provides after school activities and summer camps from the infant age to 12 years old. There are two development centers in Berryville.

"The premise of what CHEERS is all about is we provide the strong social, emotional, and academics, but then to be entrusted with some body's most prized possession...there is nothing better than that and it is an honor to do that," explains Speidel.

CHEERS' second fundraiser for 2009 is its Ninth Annual Charity Clay Shoot in September.
