This weekend part of Jim Barnett Park is going to the dogs literally. The grand opening of the Winchester Dog Park is Saturday. It's a little more than an acre of a fenced in area where dogs can run and play.
The dog park currently has 90 members. It's $18 for Winchester City Residents to become members and $24 for non-city residents. There is a fee for additional dogs. Becki Oliver, chairperson of the Winchester dog park says she came up with the idea of opening a dog park after taking her dogs to one in New Jersey. "It's a great place to just let your dog exercise. It's just known that a well exercised dog is often a happier one," says Oliver.
The grand opening of the dog park is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
