Two Danville residents have been charged after police found a gun, a knife and another weapon during a search at Danville Community College today.
Danville police say no shots were fired and no one was injured, but the incident prompted the second lockdown at the college this month.
Danville police charged 20-year-old student James Ira Bowman with carrying a concealed weapon and 45-year-old Kenneth Tyrone Terry with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Terry wasn't a student.
The campus is located along the state's border with North Carolina.
The campus was locked down after police received a call shortly after 10:30 a.m. saying a man with a gun was on his way to the school. Police quickly lifted the lockdown everywhere except the administration building. School spokeswoman Andrea Burney says the lockdown was lifted completely about two hours later.
