Mike Cox is walking 850 miles from his hometown in Kirkwood, Missouri all the way to Washington. Why? Because he believes we have fallen short in caring for our military in and out of uniform.

"He asked him what the general feeling was about the troops, explained Cox, "And he said the general feeling as I interpret is the troops feel as if America has moved on without them, and that kind of just broke my heart. I thought, well, I'm definitely going to do this and that's how it started."

Mike Cox is walking mile by mile to raise money to provide items for military and veteran service organizations that depend on donations.

"If i could just change the mind of several people, have them get off the couch and get a hold of their elected officials, for my cause or any other good causes out there to support the troops, then i feel that I've done something," says Cox.

Through the inclement weather and physical wear and tear Mike Cox's goal is to raise 35,000 dollars for the USO and 25,000 for the Fisher House Foundation.

He explains his troubles along the way, "And the first two or three days are brutal you can't stop, if you sit down, everything locks up."

TO DONATE:
In the progress of the walk, I have been asked many times how one can donate to support the walk.

If you would like to donate fifty dollars or less, you can send a check made out to: 850 Miles
