For one Frederick County teacher the 2008-2009 school year is starting with a bang.
Maribeth Carmichael is the 2009 teacher of the year. Carmichael is a product of the Frederick County Public School system.
She currently teaches English at Millbrook High and also serves as head librarian.
"We're here to teach children and I believe that every child learns in a different way, but they can all be taught. It's our responsibility, it's our job to find a way to reach the children in our classrooms," said Carmichael.
Carmichael was one of three finalists for 2009 Frederick County Teacher of the Year.
She will represent Frederick County in the Virginia Teacher of the year program.
