That is the milestone that Bob Swortzel is approaching. It would have been his 245th donation today, however due to an upcoming surgery, doctors do not recommend donating today. Instead, a pint will be drawn prior to the surgery in case of emergency.
Bob Swortzel/30 Gallon Club: "I'm here today at the invitation of the Red Cross because while I am number three blood donor by count in the Winchester area, I am number one in Warren County.
Volunteers celebrated this event with announcements and a cake. Bob has been donating since the age of seventeen when his mother demanded he go, donate, and help save lives. They say one pint can help six to eight people. 245 pints can help 1500 to 2000 people in need.
