For many Clarke County residents, spring doesn't start until opening weekend of the farmers' outdoor market.
Canopies lined the town parking lot off of Church Street with vendors selling produce, breads, cheese and homemade soups.
Local businesses also marketed their wares and services and the Berryville Police Department fit children with bicycle helmets.
Artisans displayed photos, woodwork and jewelry.
Despite the rain, those in attendance seemed to be nothing but enthusiastic about the opening of the 2008 operating season.
"It's really exciting because I love having the local stuff and I do love to cook so having the fresh ingredients and getting stuff from local farmers and getting actual real produce [is great]," said Laura Baker of Waynesboro.
"It's great too to come up and see the sites and the sounds and everything. Even the drive up this morning just was great," said Laura's husband, Kristopher Baker.
The Clarke County Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
