It's hard to believe, but summer is almost here. School will soon be out, but that doesn't mean kids shouldn't keep their minds active.
Friday morning, the Handley Regional Library unveiled their "One Summer, Three Books" program.
It's an annual program that seeks to keep kids engaged with reading over the summer.
There are three books, one for each different age levels.
The theme is Catch the Reading Bug, which is reflected in the books.
The books are "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears", "In the Tall, Tall Grass", and "Uglies".
"We find that students who read during the summer do so much better of all kinds of areas of curriculum and excellence when they go to school the next year," said Donna Hughes of Handley Regional Library.
"It just sets a good precedence for life, actually."
You can find the books at The Winchester Book Gallery and at any branch of the Handley Regional Library.
The next book event is "Rally for Reading" on May 31st on the Old Court House Lawn in Oldtown Winchester.
