Eugene Tewalt captured a convincing win in the race for Front Royal Mayor, besting opponent Hollis Tharpe by a 62 to 37 percent margin.
Tewalt currently serves on the town council as a member.
Tharpe served on the council from 2000 to 2004, but will not be a part of the newly-elected body.
In the contest for three open council seats, candidates Carson Lauder Jr., Chris Holloway and Tom Conkey emerged victorious.
Lauder Jr. received 26.7 percent of the vote, Holloway garnered 26.1 percent of the vote, and Conkey squeaked by with 21.9 percent of the vote.
N. Shae Parker finished a close fourth with 20.9 percent of the vote.
There are approximately 8,000 registered voters in the town of Front Royal.
Voter turnout for this year's elections was 18 percent, compared to 16 percent in the previous town elections.
