Friday afternoon local police went after a fugitive from West Virginia who was wanted for burglary.

The suspect was at 312 Fawn Road in Gore.

When police entered the residence they say the suspect was armed.

Shots were fired.

The suspect was wounded and is being treated at Winchester Medical Center.

No officers were injured.

The incident is still under investigation.

Virginia State Police, along with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, and the Frederick County Commonwealth Attorney's Office are handling the investigation.
