The countdown is on to April 15th. You have only 18 more days to file your taxes.
Even if you don't normally file, you will want to this year because of the economic stimulus rebate.
Starting in May, the US Treasury will begin sending out the stimulus payments to more than 130 million households.
Local tax offices tell TV-3 that a lot of people don't realize that they are eligible.
You must receive at least $3,000 worth of income a year. That does include Social Security benefits, Veteran's benefits, railroad retirement recipients, and low-wage workers.
"It's important to file your taxes because that's how you get into the system, in order to get your rebate checks," explained Lena Barto of Liberty Tax Service.
"Your rebate checks will start in mid-May for the earliest that filed electronically, and those will receive a tangible check that starts at the end of May. So in order to get your check you need to be in the system."
You must file a 2007 Federal Tax Return.
