The Shenandoah Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America presented their Distinguished Citizen Award Thursday evening to David Booth Holliday.
Holliday was recognized for his significant contributions to the community and to scouting.
He says the Boy Scouts played a big role in making him the man he is today.
"The skills have saved my life and it has made my life- unequivocally. My dad, my uncle and my Scout Master are the three men in my life, and there is not enough I can say about it, just not enough I can say about it," said Holliday
The evening's event helped raise money to support the important programming scouting offers to thousands of local youth
"Dave Holliday has been a leading citizen in this community who has helped many, many organizations, not just the Boy Scouts. This event is a way for the Boy Scouts to raise money so that the young people of today are able to receive the kind of program that he received when he was a young person many years ago," said Terry Coffman, Scout Executive.
Mr. Holliday earned an Eagle Scout award in 1963 while a member of Troop 2, chartered to First Presbyterian Church.
