Randolph-Macon Academy's Director of Public Relations, Celeste Brooks, issued the following statement in response to the loss of one of their students, Sean Collison, in a plane crash Friday night.

"At approximately 4:45 this morning, Randolph-Macon Academy was notified that Sean Collison of Potomac, MD, and his father, Dr. Hector Collison, were killed in a plane crash one mile from Front Royal/Warren County Airport. Sean, 15, was a sophomore at R-MA.

We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Although Sean had just enrolled at second semester, he was still a member of the corps of cadets, a member of our family. We can't begin to imagine the pain his family is feeling, but our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Our students who are on campus were notified at a mandatory lunch meeting today, and the remainder will be notified on Sunday. There will be counselors available to all of our students throughout this weekend. On Monday morning, in place of our regular chapel service, we will have a memorial service in Sean's honor. The class schedule for the rest of the week will continue as normal."

Father and Son, May you rest in Peace. Sean, a Cadet at Randolph-Macon like my son here in Front Royal. Our families and school community are mourning this tragic loss. Sean joined our school family recently. We love our Cadets - they all Matter! Sean will be remembered in our hearts! Let a student know you care!

My baby cousin. Though he came across shy and timid at times, he was always so full of life and love. I will always remember his caring ways, his thoughtfulness and the beautiful heart he owned. I love you! You will forever & ever be missed!

The lesson we all learn in this tragedy is to, truly, take time to get to know each other as human beings. May Sean and his father rest in peace. Respectfully, Michael S. Williams Director of Residential Life Randolph-Macon Academy

I was one of Sean's teachers at Churchill HS. It was devastating to hear that Sean had passed. He was a wonderful child on his way to becoming a smart caring adult. I will never forget his coming in early to go over geometry with me, his smile and his easy laid back style. My heart goes out to his mom and his siblings. Much love, Ms. Cross
