Trial Date Set in Case Against SU Student Charged with Filing False Report

A trial date is set in the case against a Shenandoah University student accused of filing a false police report.

Benjamin Simmons, 19, of Delaware told Winchester Police he was robbed by four black males on campus in April.

He allegedly told police the males assaulted him and stole $40 from him.

Police say, during a follow-up interview the student admitted that it didn't happen.

A trial is set in Winchester General District Court on June 20th.
