Hit and Run Arrest Leads to DUI Charge
Just before 2:30 Monday morning, Officer Nixon with the Winchester Police Department, observed a severely damaged vehicle heading northbound on Loudoun Street.
Officer Nixon conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and discovered the vehicle had just been involved in a hit and run with a tractor trailer at 522 N/ Rt 37.
The driver, 25 year old Matthew Jayne Sr., was arrested and registered a BAC of .22 at the jail.
Jayne was charged with a second offense of DUI.
Virginia State Police obtained a felony hit and run warrant on Jayne and investigated the traffic crash.
