Annual Queen's Dinner

Queen Jazz Dorsett has had a packed schedule Thursday, from tasting apple pies to dancing at the Young at Heart Dance.

Thursday, she and her court were at the annual Queen's Dinner.

The Winchester Pipe and Drum quartet was there to make way for the procession.

The queen and her maids were each escorted by members of the Shenandoah men's baseball team.

The annual dinner has been part of the festival for more than 40 years and organizers say it's a wonderful tradition.

"They started as the joint service club luncheon, back in the 20th century all the clubs got together for lunch with the Queen before the coronation then it moved to an evening event but it is the event where you bring all the civic clubs together where they all have the opportunity to participate and meet the Queen," Gene Schultz says.

The Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs were just a few of the service groups involved.
