A local high school has been recognized as a model for other schools in Virginia.
The community, character development approach, and challenging curriculum at Millbrook High School has earned it the 'Emerging School of Character' title.
Millbrook principal Carrie Butler says she's honored for the recognition.
"It's a pretty awesome feeling," said Butler. "It's a wonderful to be a principal of a high school and I always knew we had a special high school. We do some wonderful things here."
School superintendent David Sovine says character education is an important part of what occurs in Frederick County schools and will help students once they graduate and become productive, engaged citizens.
