How long until Football Season?

I'm just saying what you guys are all thinking.

The end of July signifies the beginning of NFL Camps across the country... and more importantly, High School football has it's first official day of practice on the 28th of July here in Virginia (safe to say it's the first time I've ever looked forward to a Monday).  After last season I can only imagine what this Fall will have in store for us.

Another exciting thing about this Fall, is we'll have an opportunity to track the great class of 2008. With 5 local football players signing Division 1 Scholarships, we can look forward to hearing big things from:

JJ Dorsey (Handley/WVU)

Butch Kaczmarzewski (Millbrook/VMI)

Joey Christine and Markeith Brisco (Sherando/Norfolk St.)

Brian Barlow (Sherando/JMU)

Count on us to let you know how they are doing at the next level.

The Valley League keeps trucking along. as we hit the second half of the season all of our area's teams have a shot at making the Playoffs.  Winchester has the best record and seems to have some pretty powerful bats, while Woodstock has been playing much better ball after a slow start to the season.  Front Royal is on the outside looking in right now, and the Cards need to play better down the stretch if they are going to make the postseason.  But with Coach Bobby Brotherton at the helm...I don't doubt the Redbirds will pull it off.... nobody knows more baseball than Coach B!

Any of you interested in Soccer... there will be a free soccer camp at Sherando Park August 12-14.  The camp is in honor of Hayden Barnes Ellias, a youngster from Stephens City who was killed last year by an unanchored soccer goal.  I'll be there coaching and as Bill Duvall would say... a great time WILL be had by all!

To register for the camp go to www.haydensgoal.org... It's a free camp and space is limited so hurry to the web site.

Thanks for watching and your continued support!
