Carnivals and Corndogs

So far, I've been to the Apple Blossom carnival 3 times this week. THREE TIMES! Once with Mike Giangreco to grab a corndog, plus one for Denise (she and Lauryn love corndogs more than I do), another time for an interview right before they opened, and then again last night for fun.

It has been quite a few years since I've been to a fair. Isn't it weird how you go every year to the State Fair or to the county fair when you are younger, but by the time college comes and goes, you haven't been in years? I haven't been on a ferris wheel, roller coaster, you name it, in years!

It turns out, either because of getting older, or the fact I haven't put my body to extremes like that in such a long time....well...I can't really handle that stuff anymore!

We did ride the ferris wheel (or Gondala Wheel, as the fair's PR guy told me) last night, which was great.  No problem there.

Next, we decided to be more daring, and ride a more "thrilling" ride. I don't remember the name for it, but it basically is like an elevator that takes you up about 100 feet in the air, and then drops you straight down. As soon as we started ascending, I immediately regretted this idea. You can't see the pole above you, so you don't know when you've reached the top. And you can't see immediately below you, so you can't tell how far you've made it. All I can remember is that it seemed like it kept going,...and going...until finally....it dropped us about 70 feet! There isn't quite any feeling like freefalling, that's for sure! My stomach went straight to my throat, if that makes any sense.  Luckily, it only does that once, so you're off the ride after that big drop!

Finally...I though hey, we should ride the Spider! I've ridden that before.  I knew I couldn't handle things like the spaceship-looking thing that spins around and round really fast and pins you against the wall. But the Spider ride (which pretty much looks like a spider, with bucket seats on the "tenticles" that spin around too) I have ridden countless times, and I thought I could handle it.

Ha ha...No I couldn't. If you were there last night, and you saw a very disoriented girl get off that ride, yeah, that was me.

I had to sit down, and sit very still, for quite a long time and I still didn't quite regain my composure until this morning. I pretty much went straight to bed, and was careful not to move whatsoever. I'm just glad THATS over...and I will defiitely never do something like that again!

Here are some photos from the carnival last night....Definitely go...but beware of the Spider.
