Well well well….. Break is over and all the Colonels' smiling faces are back in school again. In reality, they dread the 6 am alarm and the pre-dawn activities before coming to school, but they have no choice. The show must go on. There is much to show for James Wood these days. The basketball teams are in action today and tomorrow; the swim team has been making the papers, and all of our sports teams seem to be quite successful.
With the recent 68 degree weather though, days are passing quickly, and there is talk of our beloved summer once again. Today is the first day for several months that I have lingered in the parking lot, talking and making plans; the weather was so inviting. I then got in my car, and drove home with the windows down and the radio on – that's a good feeling. The taste of unseasonal weather will make the next few months that much harder until spring arrives.
For the Seniors, the great countdown has begun. Soon after the clock struck 12, for many of us, the realization hit that, "WE GRADUATE THIS YEAR!" There are approximately 4 months and 30 days until graduation. Seeing those numbers "2008" didn't mean as much when they represented a time in the future, but now they are our reality. We write them on our papers every day, and, well, it means something. I make an almost daily trek to the Guidance Office now, straightening out scholarships and college decisions. The stress of decisions regarding next year is almost past us, and the anticipation of the next stage of our life looms ahead.
