Blog for November 5-18
As the month of October came to a close, so did the first quarter grading period. Report cards were distributed and students and teachers began a new nine weeks with a fresh start. Student athletes continue to excel. On Nov 6th the Varsity Volleyball Team competed in the Regional Tournament Quarterfinal at Fluvanna High School. Emily Hoff, Blair Wampler, and Mackenzie Tingle were all named to the Northwester District First Team. Mackenzie was also named the district player of the year for the second consecutive season. Also, senior cross country runner Josh Wilson was named the Northwestern District Cross Country Champion.
Tryouts for winters sports began November 12th and include tryouts for Boys’ basketball, Girls’ basketball, wrestling, indoor track, and the swim team.
In other school news the James Wood Band apple dumpling sales get underway on November 17th; the girls’ chorus members will participate in the District Choral Workshop on November 20th at Milbrook High School, and the Drama Troupe will perform their one-act play at the Region II Theater Championship at Broad Run High School on Saturday, November 17th.
A school-wide “Celebration Rally” is scheduled for Friday, November 16th to recognize the many accomplishments of both athletic and academic teams and Friday has been declared “Blue and Gold Day” in honor of the celebration. We’re proud to honor and recognize all our student accomplishments for this fall!
