James Wood is buzzing with excitement as the seniors are applying for colleges and the juniors are taking the PSAT. The athletic front has been excelling as our many sports teams progressed through district competitions. Our Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Teams advanced to the regional meet and senior Josh Wilson claimed a district title. The Girls’ Volleyball Team lost in the district finals, but they are still advancing to the regionals. The Competition Cheerleading Squad placed third at the district cheer competition and will go on to compete at the regional level.
Meanwhile, our drama students finished first (for the third year in a row) in the N. W. District one-act play competition at Skyline High School with their play “The Bald Soprano.” Our creative writing magazine, Afterwords, received a score of 965 out of 1000 possible points from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s evaluation, giving them a Gold Metal rating, and last year’s yearbook, The Woodbine, took a first place finish in its category.
That’s some of what’s keeping the halls of James Wood buzzing. We’ll be back next week to fill you in on the latest news at James Wood.
