First Apple Blossom & Your Racing Forecast
Last week, I experienced my first Apple Blossom Festival.  I am very glad the weather turned out to be so nice, otherwise I would've been in hot water, haha!  When I first moved here, everyone told me all about it and what a big deal it is.  I wasn't sure what I was in for, but now I understand.  I was exhausted by the end of the weekend!  Saturday I was on the TV3 float in the parade, and I loved it!  I was shocked to see the ENTIRE parade route lined with people.  I've been in parades before (more on that in a minute), but nothing this big!  I genuinely enjoyed seeing the community, and it was great to see everyone's response to our TV camera on the float.  Sunday I was at the TV3 booth at Weekend in the Park.  My favorite part of the day was the walking robot, haha!  And we had a lot of great kids taping the "TV3 puts children first" spots which will air all throughout the year!

I must give all the marching bands in the parade a round of applause because I was in marching band throughout high school, and I know how hard it is to march that far!  When I was walking back to the car after the parade, I went past all the bands as they were relaxing (downing water and cooling off).  I know each and every band member got quite a workout marching that route start to finish in those heavy uniforms.  I play the alto saxophone, and I know my mouth and feet were exhausted after a parade.  My senior year I was a drum major, so I had to march through parades backwards while conducting.  That was quite the workout too!  Those kids never get enough credit for all the hard work they do.  Being in marching band turned out to be great exercise for me, and it certainly teaches discipline.  So cheers to all the bands out there!  (And yes, I still play my sax.)

Now on to your racing forecasts:

IndyCar Series - Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Fast Friday (5/9), Pole Day, Saturday (5/10), and 2nd Day Quals Sunday (5/11).  Catch qualifying action RIGHT HERE ON TV3 Saturday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. ET!  More coverage on ESPN2 from Noon - 2 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. ET.  A storm system brought rainy conditions to Indy this week, raining out some of practice.  Conditions will start to improve on Friday as the system lifts out.  Temperatures will be in the mid 60's on Friday as skies turn partly sunny.  High pressure will build in Saturday bringing more sunshine and a pleasant temperature near 70 degrees.  However, another system will emerge from the Ohio Valley and spread some clouds back into the region late Saturday.  This will provide a chance of scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm on Sunday.  Temperatures will approach the mid 60's.

NASCAR Nationwide Series - Darlington Raceway, Friday (5/9) at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.  A cold front moving across the southeast will bring some scattered showers and thunderstorms.  There is a slight chance of strong thunderstorms Friday afternoon, but that threat will diminish into the evening.  Afternoon temperatures will be quite warm near 85 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds.  Expect a race time temperature near 79.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Darlington Raceway , Saturday (5/10) at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.  The cold front may linger near the region on Saturday, providing a slight chance of a shower or storm.  Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny with temperatures topping out in the lower 80's.  Temperatures will fall into the upper 70's for the race.

Winchester Speedway - The Lee Stultz Memorial, gates open at 4:30 p.m., racing starts at 7 p.m.  High pressure will build in briefly on Saturday, bringing a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon.  Temperatures will be a little cooler than they have been lately in the mid 60's.  An isolated shower is possible.  Temperatures will be near 60 degrees at race time.

It was my first Apple Blossom, too, and your grandfather and I had a wonderful day, which started by meeting your associates from TV3, a great group of people who made us feel welcome, as did others along the parade route. I certainly agree that recognition should be given to the students and parents of all the marching bands who work hard to make their programs look so classy. A final comment, on this Mother's Day weekend, I say to you, my daughter, I love you!

Posted by: Theresa Thanks for my PERSONAL forecast. I'm glad you had a great time at the festival. I'll be sure to take tons of peek-tures for you while I'm out in Indy. WAHOO!!! I'll chat with you later on this morning.
