I can remember first hearing TV3 Winchester was in the works.. A friend of mine, knowing that I had worked in TV before, mentioned that he had seen an article in the paper about a TV station coming to Winchester. I was surprised but felt for many years that Winchester and the surrounding areas could support a small market TV station. When I look back over this past year, I do have some fond memories.

Our initial offices were located in some old dorm rooms at Shenandoah University (left pic- my desk in the dorms/right pic - early construction of the TV3 Winchester building). We were in there for a couple of months till the building was completed. It seemed like forever till we finally moved in. Once moved in, the work began in earnest. There was much to learn from getting to know one another as co-workers.. to learning all the new gear (cameras, editing machines, production equipment), to many new folks to the area learning their "way around town"... There have been many challenges, most notable the continued difficulty we've had with a lot of the new equipment that we are using. There have been a lot of bugs to get worked-out but throughout all that, the staff has kept their chins up and I think done an outstanding job. It's great to see young reporters developing into better and better reporters. It is on this front that I think we have gained the most ground. At this point, I do believe TV3 Winchester is here to stay and hopefully will keep gaining ground in the years to come. Thanks to all the good people in our area who've welcomed this station and who continue to support it.
