To all of the mothers and grandmothers out there – you deserve a big pat on the back!
I have been blessed with the best mom in the entire world. Of course I’m biased, but I’ve got proof that she really is #1:
First of all, my mom has probably pulled more all-nighters than any other mother out there. When I was younger, she was always up into the wee hours of the morning sewing costumes, baking cookies for school and anything else I brought to her at the very last minute. She always came through for me, even when I didn’t deserve it.
Secondly, you think having two or three kids is work? Try having 25. My dad is a college basketball coach and my mother plays the roll of ‘mom’ to his entire team. They call her when they need advice, a warm meal, a favor -- you name it. She sits with them in the emergency room when they get injured, drives their girlfriends and wives to away games, and even washes their uniforms after every single game… I think she was less than thrilled when Dad transferred that responsibility from the team managers to her, but she does it with a smile anyway.
I’ve never seen her do anything for herself. She doesn’t go to fancy salons, dye her hair or get her nails done. Anytime she goes shopping – she ends up buying me all kinds of clothes and purses, but nothing for herself.
Thanks to her, and my great dad, I had such a happy childhood. I don’t know if I will ever be able to repay them for everything they’ve done for me.
This is a picture of my family in Colorado. Mom and I aren't blessed with the same height as my dad and brother :-)
