Safety at the Blossom

Your safety at Apple Blossom was the topic at Thursday's press conference with law enforcement in Winchester.

Officers say that certain things need to be remembered such as leaving early for events, having someone in charge of watching kids if the whole family is going, and of course drinking responsibly.

Authorities also want to remind you about the pet ban for the festival.

Doug Watson, Winchester Police Captain, says "our biggest concern, obviously, is small children going through the crowd, and a dog may lash out and hurt a child."

Since many people use cell phones, they're also asking that if you call the police you have a location or a landmark to identify where you are.

The hotlines, which will have volunteers able to answer your questions about street closures, detour routes, and more are (540) 545 - 4737 and (540) 545 - 4738.
