Before the fireworks, thousands of people crowded the streets of Winchester for the Firefighters Parade.
Tons of different fire and rescue squads took part.
The Firefighter Marshal is NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, and he greeted fans from atop a firetruck.
The parade lasted about three hours and folks traveled from near and far to join the fun.
People we caught up with were happy to be at a parade that honored those who served us.
“The firefighter parade, man, I respect them because when you're in need they're there for you and they put their life on the life. You gotta support them. It's all about paying respects,” says Kevin Payne.
The Firefighters Parade is the first of the two big parades, with the Grand Feature Parade taking place Saturday afternoon.
